Boyceville man arrested after high speed chase

Austin Szewcik, 20 was involved in a high speed chase on Wednesday, July 23 at 3:10 a.m. on Interstate I-94 near Baldwin after a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper monitoring traffic attempted to stop the vehicle for equipment violations.

The driver fled with speeds reaching 110 miles per hour before he exited at the Woodville ramp. St. Croix County ultimately used a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle.

Szewcik was arrested and turned over to the Dunn County Jail with felony eluding, operating a motor vehicle without owners consent and a bench warrant from Eau Claire County.

Szewcik has currently an “open” case for obstructing an officer, which was filed in May of this year and then a “filed only” case for charges of retail theft on that same date in May.
