Bryan Charles Mounce of Downing, Wis., was one of 47 students to receive a doctor of philosophy degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in Milwaukee at its 101st annual commencement exercises, May 16th, at The Milwaukee Theater.
Dr. Mounce is the son of Lucille and Timothy Mounce. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2008. Following graduation, he will begin a postdoctoral fellowship at Institut Pasteur in Paris, France.
His dissertation was entitled “Chromatin and class I histone deacetylases in gammaherpesvirus infection,” and his advisor was Vera Tarakanova, Ph.D.
Founded in 1893, MCW is dedicated to education, discovery, patient care and public and community engagement. More than 1,200 students are enrolled in MCW’s medical school and graduate school programs. A major national research center, it is the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area and second largest in Wisconsin.
