A family of three, a mother and her two toddlers, suffered injuries when their car was struck by a pickup truck pulling a cattle trailer Friday, May 23, 2014.
The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office responded to the two-vehicle crash, which occured shortly after 11 a.m. on CTH B at CTH N in the Town of Eau Galle.
[emember_proteced] A 2011 GMC pickup truck pulling a cattle trailer, driven by Jeffrey J. Keyes, age 46 from Knapp, WI, was eastbound on CTH N. A 2006 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Bethany H. Olson, age 35 from Elmwood, WI was northbound on CTH B. According to evidence at the scene, Keyes failed to stop at the stop sign on CTH N and collided with the Olson vehicle. The Olson vehicle ended up in the ditch in the northeast corner of the intersection and the Keyes vehicle and trailer ended up in the north ditch on CTH N.
Passengers in the Olson vehicle were Gunner J. Olson, age 2, and Emmajean T. Olson, age 14 months.
All occupants in the Olson vehicle were transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul by Baldwin EMS with various injuries. Keyes was not injured.
Occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts, and the children were in appropriate child restraints.
There were four cattle in the back of the trailer which were transferred to another trailer once the initial investigation was completed.
Assisting at the scene was Baldwin EMS, United Fire, Baldwin Police Dept., Wisconsin State Patrol and the Wisconsin DNR.
The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office. [/emember_proteced]
