Steve Rasmussen elected as chair of Dunn County Board

MENOMONIE — Steve Rasmussen of Boyceville, Dunn County Board supervisor for District No. 4, has been elected again as chair of the Dunn County Board.

Rasmussen was elected at the April 14 meeting.

On a nominating ballot, Rasmussen received 23 votes.

Dunn County Board supervisor Jill Noreen of Menomonie received one vote, Mary Solberg of Menomonie received one vote, and two of the ballots were abstentions.

At the point in the meeting when the election was held for chair of the board, Solberg had not yet arrived.

Noreen withdrew from the nominations.

On a ballot vote for chair, Rasmussen received 24 votes, Solberg received one vote and one ballot was “abstain.”

“It is an honor to serve this board (of) dedicated and conscientious people,” Rasmussen said.

The Dunn County Board also elected Richard Creaser of Menomonie, supervisor for District No. 28, as vice chair.

By the time the nominating ballot for vice-chair rolled around, Solberg had arrived at the meeting.

On the nominating ballot, Creaser received 17 votes, David Bartlett of Boyceville received three votes, Solberg received two votes, James Tripp of Menomonie received one vote, Robert Walter of Menomonie received one vote, and two of the ballots were abstentions.

Bartlett, Solberg, Tripp and Walter withdrew from the nominations.

A motion to cast a unanimous ballot for Creaser was approved on a voice vote.

Rasmussen was first elected as chair of the Dunn County Board in 2006. He has served on the county board for more than 20 years.
