Dunn County deputies shoot and kill suspected drug dealer
MENOMONIE — The Dunn County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, officers from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Department, the West Central Drug Task Force and the Eau Claire County Regional Tactical Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the Town of Red Cedar.
During entry, a confrontation resulted in the suspect being fatally wounded by officers, according to the news release.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation has been called to conduct an investigation.
The officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, which is standard procedure in situations involving a fatality.
The Dunn County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately release the name, age or gender of the victim, but in another news release dated February 13, identified the victim as 32-year-old Dennis B. Grohn.
According to news reports, the house and unattached garage are located along 708th Avenue in the Town of Red Cedar.
