St. Croix County recorded its third traffic death of the new year.
According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department a vehicle was leaving a business at 2231 U.S. Highway 12 in Baldwin just before noon on February 5. It was northbound approaching Highway 12 when it crossed the railroad tracks.
According to information from the scene, the driver of the vehicle was crossing the tracks when he noticed the westbound train. The driver then reversed direction attempting to back off the tracks, but his vehicle was struck in the passenger side by the train.
The driver of the vehicle, 69-year-old Roy Lee Marske of Cumberland was transported to the Baldwin Area Medical Center with non life threatening injuries and his wife, Gloria Helen Marske, 69, of Cumberland was transported to the Baldwin facility, where she was pronounced deceased.
