Nelson sentenced in connection with St. Croix Central arson incident

On December 20, 2013, St. Croix County Circuit Court Judge Honorable Eric Lundell sentenced Justin W. Nelson in the April 20, 2013 Arson to the St. Croix Central Elementary School in Roberts, WI.

After a 90 minute hearing Judge Lundell handed down a sentence of 30 years to Nelson confining him to prison for 20 years and extended supervision for an additional 10 years. In handing down his sentence Judge Lundell noted that the sentence is intended to instill a sense of Public Safety to the residents of Roberts and Hammond, WI. Judge Lundell further noted that the sentence assures that an entire generation of students currently attending St. Croix Central School District will be assured that they will be safe from further violence by Mr. Nelson. Chief Burgess of the Roberts Police Department stated that “We are saddened that a young man will spend a long time in prison due to such a senseless act of violence, but feel that justice has been served for the students, staff and residents of the St. Croix Central School District.” The Roberts Police Department once again wants to thank all of our cooperating agencies and St. Croix County Assistant District Attorney Mike Neiskes for their excellent work.
