Wheeler tax levy the same for three years in a row

WHEELER —  The Wheeler Village Board has approved a budget for 2014 of $199,916 and a tax levy of $49,343.

The tax levy for the 2014 budget approved at the Wheeler Village Board’s November 12 meeting is the same amount that was levied for both the 2012 and the 2013 budget.

The 2014 budget is about $1,000 more than the 2013 budget but is $25,000 less than the 2012 budget.

State-shared revenue for 2014 is listed as $121,134, representing an $85 increase compared to the 2013 budget.

State-shared revenue in 2012 was $121,076.

Wheeler’s 2014 budget includes $72,257 for general government, representing a $5,000 increase over the 2013 budget.

The public safety budget for 2014 of $45,239 also represents a $5,000 increase over the 2013 budget.

The public works budget of $65,942 is about $5,000 less than the 2013 budget.

The culture, recreation and education budget of $2,400 is about $5,000 less than this year as well.
