Hansen named new Postmaster in Boyceville
By Kelsie Hoitomt
BOYCEVILLE – Last Friday, November 15 a short but sweet ceremony took place as Tammy Hansen was sworn in under oath as the newest Postmaster at the Boyceville Post Office.
Hansen has worked in the postal service industry for nearly eight years as a mail carrier in the cities of Eau Claire and most recently, Menomonie.
It was Mark Nelson, who is the retired Postmaster from Boyceville, that had Tammy take the mail carrier test all those years ago.
Tammy chuckled at the fact that it was Mark who started her career and now she is the one taking over for him.
Hansen shared that her goal was to one day become a postmaster. However, due to budget cuts within the United States Postal Service, the Boyceville Post Office could only hire a part-time person.
Hansen was more than willing to take on the job and leave her full-time mail carrier position in order to fulfill her dream.
Hansen currently resides near Boyceville with her husband Doug and their two children, Jake and Wyatt.
