Man drowns in Apple River

On Sunday, October 27, 2013, at 12:31 p.m., the St. Croix County Emergency Communications Center received a call of a body that had been found floating in the Apple River. The body had been located by several kayakers, who observed something snagged on a rock in the middle of the river. This was just downstream from the Village Park, located in the Village of Somerset.

An autopsy was performed by Ramsey County Medical Examiner, and the preliminary cause of death was drowning. Toxicology reports are pending. No foul play is suspected at this time.

The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Somerset Police Department, the Somerset Fire/Rescue Department, and the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.

This death remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.
