Governor Walker approves $689,500 project at Menomonie Municipal Airport
Governor Scott Walker today announced a $689,522 project to replace airfield lighting at the Menomonie Municipal Airport.
Kim Kaarto, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the project will replace some of the airport’s electrical system, security lighting and other lighting aids.
Funding Breakdown: State – $25,572; City of Menomonie – $25,572; Federal Aviation Administration – $638,378
The project will be completed in three phases, with facility and runway closures scheduled. Work is set to be finished by December 2013.
Menomonie Municipal Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan (SASP). The airport is classified as a medium general aviation airport. It supports most single and multi-engine general aviation aircraft, including aircraft commonly used by businesses.
