Dry condiditons hamper corn
This area of the state has experienced a shortage of rain this summer and that has slowed the growth of corn.
According to the Wisconsin Crop Weather report corn in the state was 67 percent silking and six percent in the dough stage. The report stated that 13 percent of the corn in the state was either in very poor or poor condition.
Soybeans were 67 percent blooming and 24 percent setting pods, oats were 20 percent harvested and the third cutting of alfalfa was 14 percent completed.
But in this area corn has suffered because the lack of rain. The pictures below show the difference in corn growth over three years on a field near Connorsville with Donald Grambo, left and Donald Beyer each posing in that same field in 2005, 2011 and this year. All pictures were taken on July 4th of each year.
