7th St. Croix County fatality occurs

On Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 1:50 p.m. the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on CTH T and the I-94 eastbound exit ramp, in the Town of Pleasant Valley.

 A 2004 Ford Taurus, driven by a 72-year-old South St. Paul male, was stopped at the stop sign on the eastbound off-ramp from I-94. A 2010 Ford Edge, driven by Amy Olson, age 38 of Hammond, was southbound on CTH T. According to witnesses, the Ford Taurus pulled away from the stop sign and was struck by the Olson vehicle in the driver’s side. The Taurus ended up hitting the guardrail on the east side of CTH T while the Edge came to rest in the roadway. Olson and her passenger, Finn Olson, age 4 received some injury but were not transported to a hospital.

The 72 year old male, John Alfred Burnside from South St. Paul, MN, was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner’s Office.

All three occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Assisting at the scene was the United Fire Department, Baldwin EMS and Baldwin Police Department.

This is the 7th fatality of 2013.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.
