COLFAX — The Dunn County Open Dairy Show at the Colfax Free Fair on Saturday, June 16, had 62 entries of Holstein and colored breed dairy cattle.
The Supreme Junior Grand Champion, a winter Guernsey calf, was shown by Emily Hellendrung of Ridgeland, Phil Aud Guernseys (Tom Hellendrung).
The Supreme Senior Champion, a four-year-old Holstein, was shown by Erica Ullom of Bloomer, Mayer Lane Holsteins (Don Mayer).
Ullom’s son, Fritzy, showed the Reserve Champion, a four-year-old Jersey cow.
When the dairy judge, Chuck Kruschke of New Richmond, announced the Supreme Senior Grand Champion, Erica and Fritzy grinned and shook hands.
The prize for both the junior and senior Supreme Grand Champions was a director’s chair donated by the Dobbs family in memory of Geoff Dobbs, who died in 2006.
Geoff Dobbs organized the Dunn County Open Dairy Show for many years.
