By Kelsie Hoitomt

On Thursday, June 6 the 29th Assembly District voted unanimously to designate Highway 128 as the 128th Infantry Memorial Highway.

Representative John Murtha along with Senator Sheila Harsdorf introduced this legislation to honor the 128th Infantry as Senate Bill 96. Currently SB 96 is headed to Governor Scott Walker to be approved.

The 128th Infantry Battalion has been defending our country for over a century with their origins beginning in 1861 in the Milwaukee/Madison areas.

Soldiers from the 128th Infantry have fought in the American Civil War, Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II and the current War on Terrorism in and around Iraq.
