MADISON – The Glenwood City golf team finished their final round of golf at the State Championships last Tuesday, June 4 around 2:00 p.m. at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison. The team placed sixth against eight other teams in Division 3.
The team of five including Jake Hierlmeier, Nick Mrdutt, Nathan Mrdutt, Zach Schemionek and Garret Schemionek scored a total of 702 after a first round of 357 and a second round of 345.
The 1999 team, which was the last to make a state appearance finished in fifth place. They were an older team headed by Jeremy Lyons, which says a lot about the potential in this young team in 2013 that consisted of one senior, one junior, a sophomore and two freshmen.

The Toppers juggled back and forth between sixth and seventh place throughout the day on Tuesday as Weyauwega-Fremont was right on their heels, but they ended up finishing just one point behind with a 703 total.
