The St. Patrick’s Day celebration is a popular time for drinking and the Glenwood City Police are hoping drinkers pick a sober driver to escort them through the weekend’s festivities.
“If you drive drunk, you will get busted. Cops will be actively looking for those drivers who are putting themselves and other motorists at risk by choosing to drive impaired,” said the GCPD.
Here are some time tips police provide to avoid drunk driving:
• Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin.
• Before drinking, please designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home.
• If you happen to see a drunk driver on the road, don’t hesitate to report them. Call 911!
• And remember, if you know people who are about to drive while impaired, take their keys and help them make other arrangements to get to where they are going safely.
