Two die in another Dunn County crash
TOWN OF LUCAS – A two-vehicle crash in the Dunn County Township of Lucas has claimed the lives of a father and son.
Joshua A. Larrieu, 30, of Menomonie and his father William C. Larrieu, 57, of Elmwood were killed late Saturday night when the vehicle there were traveling in crossed the center line and struck an SUV.
The accident happened on State Highway 29 just west of 110th Street in the Township of Lucas around 11:53 p.m. on Saturday, February 2.
A report from the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office stated that an initial investigation determined that the westbound 2002 Hyundai driven by Joshua Larrieu had crossed the center line on State Highway 29 and struck the passenger side of an eastbound 2010 Dodge Journey driven by Jean A. Kulzer, 52, of Menomonie.
Neither Joshua nor William Larrieu were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Kulzer, who was the lone occupant of the SUV, was belted when the accident occurred. She was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System – Red Cedar in Menomonie with unspecified injuries. Her condition at press time Tuesday (Feb. 5) was unknown.
The Sheriff’s news release noted that alcohol appeared to have played a role in the accident which remains under investigation. The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Menomonie Fire and Rescue, and Dunn County First Responders. The State Patrol is completing a crash reconstruction of the accident.
