Motorists can replace their old state highway map and put a new one in the glove box. The updated Wisconsin state highway map is now available. The map was produced by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in cooperation with the Department of Tourism. The whimsical design on the reverse side of the map reflects the tourism theme: Find fun in Wisconsin.
“Despite new travel information technologies, there’s still a great demand for the print version of the state map,” notes Department of Transportation Secretary Mark Gottlieb. “People find the map very useful and highly functional.”
For the first time, the map includes bar codes that can be used with any smart phone to call up current travel conditions and information about state parks and other attractions.
“This is the first state highway map featuring one of the state’s most iconic attractions, the Harley-Davidson Museum, in a photo with the Governor’s family. What better time than during the year Harley-Davidson celebrates their 110th anniversary?” said Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett. “Another first is the addition of popular car travel games and activities making the map not just practical but also fun.”
The 2013-14 map reflects numerous highway changes since the last map was printed in 2010. The updates include:
• New US Highway 12 alignment north of Baraboo
• City of Jefferson Bypass
• City of Burlington Bypass
• City of Watertown Bypass
• New alignment STH 52/64, city of Antigo
• New alignment STH 29/35, city of River Falls
• New divided highway, Fort Atkinson Bypass
• New divided highway extension USH 10 between IH 39 and Marshfield
In addition, all population totals in the “Index to Cities and Villages” have been updated to reflect 2010 census information.
