Woman dies after jumping off I-94 Bridge

HUDSON — The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department released that on Thursday, December 27 at 8:29 a.m law enforcement and EMS were dispatched to a report of a person having jumped off the I-94 Bridge over the St. Croix River in Hudson, WI.

Witnesses reported that the woman stopped her vehicle on the eastbound shoulder of the bridge, about 100 yards west of the Wisconsin shoreline, leaving her 11 year old daughter in the vehicle. The woman then climbed the railing and jumped to her death.

The body was recovered by the use of an air boat from the ice covered St. Croix River with the assistance of the Washington County Minnesota Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Lower St. Croix Valley Fire and EMS Service. Also assisting on the scene was the Hudson Police Department.

The victim was a 48 year old Pierce County resident whose identity has been withheld due to the family being notified.

The daughter is now in the care of other family members in Wisconsin.

The incident remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.
