Wheeler tax levy to remain unchanged

WHEELER — The tax levy for residents in the Village of Wheeler will remain the same as last year.

The Wheeler Village Board approved the 2013 budget at the November 13 meeting.

The tax levy for both the 2012 and 2013 budget is $49,343.

 The total budget approved by the Wheeler Village Board for 2013 is $198,888.

The budget for 2012 was $224,817.

For the expense budget, general government will be reduced by about $150 for 2013.

The public safety budget for 2013 will increase by $800.

The public works budget will decrease by about $8,000 for next year.

The culture, recreation, and education budget will increase by $1,600 for 2013.

Conservation and development will decrease by about $100, and debt service will decrease by $500.

In the 2012 budget, “other financing uses” was listed as $20,000, but the line item was zero for 2013.

Employee wages

In other business at the November 13 meeting, the Wheeler Village Board approved a base wage increase of 2.96 percent for village employees for one year.
