GLENWOOD CITY –— The Boyceville and Glenwood City track teams competed against Clear Lake, Elmwood/Plum City, Elk Mound, Spring Valley and Colfax at the Glenwood City Invite held on Thursday, April 10.
Boyceville won the girls’ competition while the Hilltopper boys placed second. The Boyceville boys’ team placed fourth and the Glenwood City girls’ team took seventh.
The Girls’ Competition
All in all, the Boyceville girls earned 154.5 points, nearly 15 points more than their closest competitor which was Clear Lake at 140.5. Coming in third was Elmwood/Plum City with a score of 126, fourth was Elk Mound at 87, Spring Valley was fifth with 72.5, Colfax was sixth with 42 and the Glenwood City girls team earned 25.5 points, which put them in seventh place.
Coming in first for the Boyceville girls’ team was Chelsi Holden in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.56 seconds and Ashlyn Maska in the two mile run with a time of 13 minutes 40 seconds. Their 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams also took first place.
A number of second-place ribbons were earned including: Chelsi Holden in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.36 seconds; Blake Jeske in the half mile run with a time of 2 minutes 39 seconds; Ashlyn Maska in the mile run with a time of 6 minutes 5 seconds; Ellie Engeman in the two mile run with a time of 13 minutes and 48 seconds and Halle Tonn in pole vault with a jump of 8 feet 6 inches.
Coming in third was Lucy Wheeldon in the 400 meter dash, Ellie Engeman in the mile run, Maddie Nelson in the 100 meter hurdles, Sydney Larson in the 300 meter hurdles and triple jump as well as the 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams.

Also scoring some significant points were fourth-place finishers Blake Jeske in the mile run, Layla Score in the two-mile run and Brylee Stevens in pole vault. Placing fifth were Elliana Kietzer in the 400 meter dash and Lucy Wheeldon in high jump. More points were scored by Lydia Day and Sydney Larson, who placed sixth in pole vault and long jump respectively. Chelsi Holden, Layla Score and Elliana Kietzer added on a few more points by placing in long jump and triple jump.
The highest placing Hilltopper girl was Ava Multhauf who finished third in high jump with a leap of 4 feet 6 inches. The Glenwood City girls’ 4×400 meter relay team placed fourth and their 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams placed sixth. Also placing sixth was Addison Wakeling in pole vault, she cleared 6 feet 6 inches.
Other teammates that placed either seventh or eighth and scored some points included Morgan Knops in the 100 meter dash, Kayley Dickmann in the half mile run, Lillie Fox in shot put and Tessa Klatt in discus.
The Boys’ Competition
Elk Mound won the boys competition with 134 points and Glenwood City took second with 118. Boyceville missed out on third place by one point to Clear Lake who scored 104.5. Spring Valley took fifth with 82 points, Colfax was sixth at 70 and Elmwood/Plum City took seventh with 50 points.
Coming in first for the Hilltoppers was Eli Oberle in the half mile run with a time of 2 minutes 10 seconds and Clayton Hoffman in the mile run with a time of 5 minutes 2 seconds. Elliott Springborn earned a pair of blue ribbons in the 400 meter dash and the 300 meter hurdles with times of 54.46 and 44.21.
Brady Thompson placed first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.95 seconds and second in the 100 meter dash in 11.34 seconds. Also coming in second was the Hilltopper boys’ 4×400 relay team. Ben Klatt took third in discus with a throw of 107 feet 8 inches.
The team scored quite a number of points with their jumpers. Pole vaulters Ben Standaert and Tyler Rogers placed third and fifth, respectively, in the event. Tyler Harrington placed fourth in high jump and Ilan Anderson placed sixth. In long jump, Justin Rogers earned third place and Ilan Anderson placed seventh.

THE TOPPERS’ Clayton Hoffman neared the finish line of the boys’ 1,600 meter race which was part of the Glenwood City Track and Field Invite held April 10. Hoffman won the event in a time of 5:02.44.

Ilan Anderson also landed a sixth-place finish in the 200 meter dash and Logan Klatt did the same in discus. Rounding out the scoring members of the team was Ryley Dickmann who placed eighth in the 100 meter dash.
The Boyceville boys’ team had two, first-place finishers, they were Liam Moore in discus with a throw of 116 feet 4 inches and Owen Rydel in triple jump with a leap of 39 feet 5 inches. Coming in second for the team was Gavin Rydel in triple jump at 38 feet 11.5 inches and Isaiah Romero in high jump at 5 feet 8 inches.
Isaiah Romero also placed third in shot put with a throw of 36 feet 9 inches and Forest Bettendorf placed third in the two-mile run with a time of 12 minutes 8 seconds. Fourth place was earned by Jacoby Kurschner in the 100 meter dash, Liam Moore in shot put, Isaiah Romero in discus and Owen Rydel in long jump. Riley Naughton took fifth in the two mile run.
Other Bulldogs that scored points included: Jon Frett who placed fifth in the 200 meter dash and sixth in the100 meter dash, Liam Moore who placed sixth in pole vault, Jon Madison who placed seventh in the 200 meter dash, Gavin Rydel who placed seventh in the 400 meter dash, Devon Lee who placed seventh in discus, Forest Bettendorf who placed eighth in the mile run and Gavin Rydel who placed eighth in long jump.
