FALL CREEK — The Glenwood City boys’ cross country team took first out of seven teams at the Knudtson Cross Country Invitational held at Fall Creek High School last Saturday, September 14 with a score of 60.
Many runners find the Fall Creek course a bit challenging due to a large hill situated in the middle of the race.
Junior Garrett Gross was the first Hilltopper to cross the finish line. He placed fourth out of 67 runners with a time of 18:19.8. Connor Davidson of Durand-Arkansaw took first place in the race with a time of 17:32.5.
Senior Elliott Springborn was the team’s second runner coming in sixth with a time of 18:31.5. Senior Ilan Anderson and sophomore Eli Oberle placed 11th and 12th with times of 19:48.2 and 19:53. And senior Zeb Holden rounded out the scoring members of the team placing 27th with a time of 21:43.6.
The Hilltopper boys were victorious over Durand, Eau Claire Regis, Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran, Boyceville, Fall Creek and Augusta.
With just two athletes competing the Hilltopper girls were three runners short to receive a team score. Senior Elsja Meijer placed 17th with a time of 25:04.3 and sophomore Erica Bauman placed 36th with a time of 28:12.4.
