Local harriers run in Amery; GC boys finish first in 4×400, Boyceville’s Wheeldon wins 400 meters

AMERY — At the Amery track and field invitational held last Tuesday, the Hilltopper and Bulldog teams competed against a number of schools. Amery won the girls competition with 126 points and Prescott was the winner for the boys with 126 as well.
The Glenwood City boys team placed ninth with 33 points while Boyceville scored 19 points putting them in 11th place out of 13 teams. The Glenwood and Boyceville girls placed 12th and 13th with 20 and 14.5 points out of 14 teams.
The Hilltopper boys’ team took first in the 4×400 relay with a time of 3 minutes 39.81 seconds. Members of the team were Ilan Anderson, Elliott Springborn, Justin Rogers and Brady Thompson. Anderson also placed third in the half mile run.
Clayton Hoffman earned another third place for the team in the two mile run. The 4×200 relay team placed fifth as did Conner Gross in discus with a throw of 118 feet 2 inches. Gross also placed sixth in shot put coming in at 42 feet 8.25 inches.
Kyra Flick threw the shot 33 feet 11 inches which earned her second place for the Hilltopper girls team. Another second place was won by Haylie Hannah who vaulted 10 feet in pole vault. Ava Multhauf earned some points by jumping 4 feet 8 inches in the high jump which was good for fifth place.
For the Boyceville boys team Peter Wheeldon took first in the 400 meter run with a time of 53.08 seconds and third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.41 seconds. The team also earned some points when their 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams placed eighth. Also placing eighth was Liam Moore-Girard in discus with a throw of 114 feet 9 inches.
In the girls competition, Bulldogs Halle Tonn and Brylee Stevens placed fifth and sixth in pole vault with jumps of 8 feet 6 inches and 8 feet. Ashlyn Maska placed fifth in the mile run with a time of 5 minutes and 57.66 seconds and Sydney Larson placed sixth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 53.36 seconds. Their 4×400 relay team which consisted of Maska, Tonn, Jaden Stevens and Elliana Kietzer placed eighth with a time of 4:38.86.
