GLENWOOD CITY LIBRARY NEWS 3-20-2024

Hop into the library for a spring extravaganza! Get ready for Monday night crafts, a fantastic Community One Read event, a Pie and Ice Cream Social, and a cool craft session for adults and teens. Don’t miss out on the fun this April – swing by and join the party!

Special Events:

Community One Read – On April 11 we will gather at the Woodville Community Center/The Lion’s Den to discuss the book and learn more about gardening with native plants. The evening will start off at 4:30 p.m. with area gardening and conservation groups sharing information. At 5 p.m., Susan Carpenter from UW Madison Arboretum will give a Badger Talk on “Gardening with Native Plants”. Carpenter is a native plant gardener and works with UW students and community volunteers to monitor the Arboretum native gardens. She also leads a conservation project in documenting and studying native bees.  At 6 p.m., following the presentation, the libraries will host a chili supper, and we’ll discuss the book “Nature’s Best Hope” by Doug Tallamy.  This event is free and is open to everyone.

Pie and Ice Cream Social April 18 |4:00-6:00 PM at the Glenwood City Public Library (217 W Oak Street; Glenwood City). Get ready to indulge in a wild world of treats, including: creating your own sundae masterpiece, savoring a classic ice cream cone, taking a slice of some heavenly pie, bringing home the whole pie, and winning some epic door prizes. This is a free will donation event, except for the whole pies will be sold separately.  All proceeds go towards the Glenwood City Public Library programming.

Monday Craft Night – Monday’s from 4:00-6:00. Our Monday Craft Night is open to all ages. If you are unable to attend and would like to try these projects at home please call and we will be happy to give you the recipe/instructions. These are free events, pictures might be taken during the craft for our Facebook Page, and children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult.

Adult/Teen Craft – These are crafts that will be happening on Thursday and are geared towards Teens through Adults.  Also, for these crafts you will need to sign up for space is limited. Please call (715-265-7443), email (gclibrary@glenwoodcitylibrary.org), sign up online with our website (www.glenwoodcitylibrary.org), or Facebook message to reserve your spot.  This event is Free, and pictures might be taken during the craft for our Facebook Page.

April 25 |6:00 PM at Glenwood City Public Library (217 W Oak Street; Glenwood City).  Let’s turn boring tin cans into fabulous May Day Baskets! 

Peter Rabbit’s Storytime – Every Friday – 10:00-11:00

Afternoon Book Club – Meets on the First Monday’s of the Month at 12:30 in the library. Call today and reserve your copy.

St. Croix Traveling Book Club – Join friends from around St. Croix County! Each month a different library is hosting a book discussion at one of their local restaurants. Dinner is at 6:00 and book discussion starts at 6:30.
