Glenhaven News:
December 25th-December 31st
Hurray, we made it to the end of the year! I like New Year’s. It is a chance to start fresh and reset the calendar, reset the positive vibes.
Santa came to visit the residents here on Christmas morning and actually had some time left in his day to spend a bit of it with them before flying home to the North Pole. Everyone was excited to see Santa and get a gift from him.
New Year’s preparations took place all week. Of course, we took time to exercise, play BINGO and make party blowers from scrapbook paper.
The Residents New Year’s Eve dinner social turned out very nice despite a few hiccups. There were all kinds of hor d’oeuvres made by our Chef Andy as well as a nice baked cod dinner entrée. We did a mock champagne toast and had brandy punch. The residents in Grand Oaks and Havenwood said there was not enough brandy in the punch, but I put 2 cups in it!!! I think they were pulling my leg. Next year, I will make sure to add more!
All in all, 2021 ended on a good note. Though we still fight through COVID outbreaks and staff shortages, we remain positive in our thoughts, positive in our actions that 2022 will bring positive change.
May your new year be blessed and healthy and forever positive!

Ahhh, first week into our new year! Have you stuck with your resolutions, if you made any? I’m trying very hard.
New Year’s Day was relatively quiet, except for the excitement about Green Bay playing Minnesota in Green Bay on Sunday. What a way to end a Sunday night! We have some diehard Packers fans at Glenhaven and they were not disappointed.
Monday was exercise with Chelbie from Live2BHealthy. She has a lot of energy that she brings with; she gets everyone moving. In the afternoon, I had Bake Club and the dessert du jour was brownies. Our resident baker, Beverlye Thompson, tutored me on how she used to make brownies from scratch. What a pleasure it was to hear her ramble off her recipe as if she made it just yesterday. And, she was so enthralled by sharing, that she was unaware that I had her stirring the brownie batter for more than was necessary. Biceps of steel, for sure!
Tuesday, Pastor Brad from Trinity Lutheran came to visit. The residents all like him. He’s very personable with them all. In the afternoon, Glenhaven residents got a taste of the delicious, fudgy brownies that we made.
Wednesday, Ashley and Barb held BINGO for everyone since I was snowbound. Team work makes the dream work.
Hair and nails were done, games were played and snacks were consumed. Must have been a fun time.
I hope your new year is starting out on a positive vibe. Stay warm, friends. Only 69 days until spring!!!

Activity Director
