HUDSON — Out of 19 supervisory districts on the St. Croix County Board, 13 districts will have two candidates in the April 5 election.
Four incumbents filed a notification of non-candidacy by the December deadline, which is the second Friday preceding the first Tuesday in January.
Incumbents who filed notification of non-candidacy are Ed Schachtner of Somerset, District 1; Paulette Anderson of Hammond, District 16; Judy Achterhof of Emerald, District 17; and Shelly Tomtschik of Baldwin, District 18.
One incumbent, William Peavy of Woodville, District 19, did not file a notification of non-candidacy or complete nomination papers by the January 4 deadline, which by state law, extended the filing deadline for other candidates wishing to run for District 19 until 5 p.m. Friday, January 7.
Here are the supervisory districts and the candidates who filed nomination papers by the January 4 deadline:
• District 1 — Lisa Lind declared candidacy January 3 and filed nomination papers January 3. Erica Johnson declared candidacy January 3 and filed nomination papers January 3. The incumbent, Ed Schachtner, filed notification of non-candidacy December 7.
• District 2 — Shawn Anderson of Hudson, incumbent, declared candidacy January 3 and filed nomination papers January 3. Challenger Sue Curtis declared candidacy January 4 and filed nomination papers January 4.
• District 3 — Bob Long of Hudson, incumbent, declared candidacy December 21 and filed nomination papers January 3.
• District 4 — Cathy Leaf of Hudson, incumbent, declared candidacy December 22 and filed nomination papers December 22. Challenger John Salmi declared candidacy December 30 and filed nomination papers January 4.
• District 5 — Carah Koch of Hudson declared candidacy December 22 and filed nomination papers December 22.
• District 6 — Timothy J. Hall of Hudson, incumbent, declared candidacy December 27 and filed nomination papers December 27. Challenger Paul Adams declared candidacy January 3 and filed nomination papers January 3.
• District 7 — Paul W. Berning of Hudson, incumbent, declared candidacy December 17 and filed nomination papers January 3.
• District 8 — Rick Ottino of Hudson, incumbent, declared candidacy December 28 and filed nomination papers December 28.
• District 9 — Bob Fiedler of Hudson, incumbent, declared candidacy December 20 and filed nomination papers December 20.
• District 10 — Dave Ostness of Hudson, incumbent, declared candidacy November 30 and filed nomination papers December 27. Challenger Guy Young declared candidacy January 3 and filed nomination papers January 3.
• District 11 — Scott Counter of New Richmond, incumbent, declared candidacy December 27 and filed nomination papers December 27.
• District 12 — Daniel Hanson of New Richmond, incumbent, declared candidacy December 28 and filed nomination papers December 28. Challenger Christopher Parent declared candidacy January 3 and filed nomination papers January 3.
• District 13 — Scottie E. Ard of New Richmond, incumbent, declared candidacy December 21 and filed nomination papers January 3. Challenger Ryan Sherley declared candidacy January 4 and filed nomination papers January 4.
• District 14 — Greg Tellijohn of New Richmond, incumbent, declared candidacy January 3 and filed nomination papers January 3. Challenger Jason A. Gruber declared candidacy January 4 and filed nomination papers January 4.
• District 15 — David Peterson of River Falls, incumbent, declared candidacy November 16 and filed nomination papers December 7. Challenger Mark Carlson declared candidacy January 3 and filed nomination papers January 3. Peterson currently serves as chair of the St. Croix County Board.
• District 16 — Mike Barcalow declared candidacy December 17 and filed nomination papers January 3. Tessa M. Boury declared candidacy December 30 and filed nomination papers December 30. Incumbent Paulette Anderson filed a notification of non-candidacy November 10.
• District 17 — Sean Lybert declared candidacy December 27 and filed nomination papers January 4. Bob Swanepoel declared candidacy January 4 and filed nomination papers January 4. Incumbent Judy Achterhof filed a notification of non-candidacy on November 2.
• District 18 — Jerry Van Someren declared candidacy September 13 and filed nomination papers December 15. Joseph Kusilek declared candidacy December 30 and filed nomination papers December 30. Incumbent Shelly Tomtschik filed a notification of non-candidacy December 2.
• District 19 — Jen Flanders declared candidacy December 21 and filed nomination papers January 3. Tim Ramberg declared candidacy January 3 and filed nomination papers January 3. Since he missed deadline for filing nomination papers, incumbent William Peavey would have to register as a write-in candidate if he wishes to run for the District 19 supervisory position. Peavy currently serves as vice-chair of the St. Croix County Board.
