Hope everyone enjoyed the 4th of July! It sure was a hot one!
Pastor Brad started our week out with a bang. He got back from Disney World just in time to do church with the residents. Everyone really enjoys his services.
Our monthly Resident Council was held this week. Residents got a chance to share their concerns, and to see if what they brought up last month was resolved. Bev Thompson is our president, and does a super job of it. Bev also celebrated her birthday this week. Happy Birthday, Bev! Her family treated us to cupcakes and ice cream. They were delicious! Thanks, Thompson family.
Jen was here for beauty shop on Wednesday making everyone beautiful. We also did manicures this week in the households.
We had Bingo, of course, on Wednesday. Like always, we had a large group out for it. We thank Pam and Dennis Steies for donating candy bars for prizes. They love their chocolate!
Exercises were held on Thursday morning, and in the afternoon we got out the parachute, which we haven’t done for a while. We were a little short on people, but we made it work. It’s good exercise for the arms and shoulders, and we do it to music, which they enjoy. There were enough of Bev’s birthday cupcakes for snack today also.
Popcorn day and Catholic mass were on Friday morning. The afternoon was spent outside tending to the flowers and getting some of the weeds under control. Our bug spray seems to be taking care of the nasty beetles that have been attacking some of our flowers. It was beautiful outside, and they enjoyed visiting, watching the birds, and admiring the flowers. We also had ice cream treats for snacks.
This next week will be a busy one with the fair. We’ll be baking and organizing our things and delivering them to the fairgrounds. The baking ladies really enjoy showing their expertise in baking. We’ve gotten many blue ribbons over the years, which they are very proud of.
I have to apologize for a mistake in the calendar for July. I forgot the fair was starting quite early this year, and mistakenly put baking club for the fair and fair entry day on the wrong week. So if you are someone who looks at our calendar, the 13th and 14th activities should be switched with the 20st & 21st, and Bingo will be on Thursday this week. Sorry if I totally confused anyone! We’re having printing issues, or I would’ve replaced it with a corrected one.
Hope everyone gets a chance to go and enjoy the fair. Go and support those organizations that count on the fair for funds to do a lot of good work for our community as well as the youth and other exhibitors that work so hard getting their projects done so we can enjoy them. Have a great week!
