IT’S A WHOPPER — Richard looked on as Dave landed a big fish. By the yellow color, it must be a sunny!

June 12-18
Pastor Les was here over the weekend for church services. We welcome him back.
Monday was Flag Day, and also Richard Gehlhaart’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Richard!
We had a nice group for exercises in the morning, and in the afternoon, the baking club again cooked with rhubarb, as the season will soon be over. We made a rhubarb torte, which will be served after Bingo this week.
Pastor Jonathan from Holy Cross and his helpers, Peg, Velma, and Carol, were here Tuesday morning for services. He had a very large audience, which was great to see. It’s so nice to have real live services again.
In the afternoon, we had a game of horseshoes outside. The weather had cooled off a little, but it eventually got too hot for folks to handle, so most wanted to come back inside. They did manage to play 3 rounds, and the big winner was Dave Cassellius. Anna and Selma tied for second, and Willard came in third.
With the dry weather, we have been constantly watering everything outside. Sure wish it would rain! I’m sure all the farmers out there are also praying for rain.
Jen, our beautician was on duty on Wednesday morning, and Bingo was played in the afternoon. Residents enjoyed their rhubarb dessert immediately following.
Thursday was exercise day in the morning, and in the afternoon, we played a game of bean bags. It was pretty hot again, so we opted for playing inside.
Friday residents enjoyed their popcorn in the morning, and in the afternoon we had a party for all the Dads. We did a fishing contest, played darts, and netting ducks. Richard Gehlhaart had a good afternoon, as he won 1st place in all 3 games. Dave Cassellius came in second for duck netting, and Bill Hoffman was third. Willard Tronrud was 2nd at darts, and Dave was 3rd. Chuck was second in the fishing contest, and Bill was 3rd. Good job, Dads!
After playing games, the guys, as well as the other residents, enjoyed chocolate malts for a treat. The Dads also received a treat bag. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there!
