NEW RICHMOND – St. Croix County Public Health has modified their Mask Advisory to reflect the new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). On Thursday May 13, 2021, the CDC released updated guidance that fully vaccinated people can resume activities they did before the pandemic, including participating in indoor and outdoor activities – large or small – without wearing a mask or physically distancing. You are considered fully vaccinated if it has been more than two weeks since you received your last dose in your vaccination series. Public Health recommends wearing masks for those not fully vaccinated as an important tool to fight this virus. They are encouraging those who have not been vaccinated for COVID-19 to get vaccinated at a location that is convenient for them.
Masks act as a simple barrier that help prevent your respiratory droplets from reaching others. When you breathe, talk, cough, or sneeze you are releasing respiratory droplets that can spread the virus. Under the Mask Advisory, Public Health recommends every individual, age five and older, in St. Croix County wear a face mask if the following apply:
1. The individual is not fully vaccinated or
2. The individual is fully vaccinated and is
a. At local businesses and workplaces which ask individuals to mask.
b. In healthcare settings.
c. In K-12 schools.
d. At a place where masks are required by local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations.
e. If they are residents or employees in a correctional or detention facility, jail, or homeless shelter.
