Well, what can we say about the weather this week?
The daffodils are blooming in my yard, and getting snowed on! The hubby just about froze yesterday trying to mow the yard, which of course is growing because of the nice weather we had. I wish it would make up its’ mind.
Last weekend was beautiful, which was nice for the young people at St. John’s who made their First Communion on Sunday. Congratulations to you all!
This week is National Volunteer Week, which we would typically have a nice lunch for around 50 people. That too is a victim of the covid. We know if things were different, we would have many of you here on a monthly basis. Thanks for your continued support, even if you can’t physically be here and we can’t gather as before.
Speaking of volunteers, we are wondering if there are young people out there that need a community service project for 4-H, church, school, etc. If so, we are looking for some help with cleaning up the grounds around Glenhaven. If you are interested, call Glenhaven and ask for Warren, who is our maintenance man.
We started our week with exercises on Monday morning, and spent the afternoon trying to catch up on manicures.
We decided to change Tuesday’s balloon volleyball to shuffleboard, as Bev Thompson had asked us last week why we haven’t played that for a while. So we did. And guess what? She was our big winner. Great Job, Bev! Coming in second was Selma, and third was Dave. Thanks to all who participated and great job, everybody!
After shuffleboard everyone enjoyed a treat of pineapple upside down cake. Tuesday was National Pineapple Upside Cake Day, so we just had to make some.
Many residents enjoyed church on TV on Tuesday morning. Catholic communion is now being brought on Sunday mornings.
The beauty shop was busy again on Wednesday. Jen does a great job, and everyone is happy to have her back at her post.
Bingo was played on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. We always do coffee and snacks of some kind following. The Girl Scout cookies we received before Easter are really being enjoyed!
Friday was our ever popular Popcorn Day.
We will have three birthdays this coming week-Birdie Moe, Willard Tronrud and Lois Kilde. Happy Birthday to you all!
