March 13-19
Did everyone remember to set their clocks ahead on Saturday night? I love to have the extra daylight when I get home from work.
National Potato Chip Day was on Sunday, so Tuesday after bean bags we had potato chip tasting. Residents tried regular chips, barbecue, dill pickle, cheddar cheese, and sour cream and onion. Their favorite was definitely the barbecue, and the least favorite was the dill pickles. I wasn’t real surprised to hear that, but thought dill pickle would be something they hadn’t tasted before.
Bean bag winners in D household were 1st- Ruth, 2nd-Selma. In Household E the winners were Anna-1st, Willard -2nd.
We played a game of Jeopardy this week also. Selma has been asking for the answers to all the presidential trivia we didn’t finish on President’s Day, so we used those for topics. It was very interesting, and a lot of fun. Everyone seemed to know much more about the older presidents than the more current ones. Part of the questions were whose face was on U.S. coins. That was the hardest part of Jeopardy for them. Martha Hjelm was our winner with $3500. That translated to being the first one to pick what kind of candy bar she wanted! Selma and Gladys were close behind. They are some very smart ladies!
Pastor Brad did facetime with his parishioners on Tuesday morning, and church was put on TV for many residents to watch. If Pastors have had their Covid -19 shots, and it has been 14 days since their last shot, they are able to come and visit also.
Wednesday was beauty shop day with Jen, and also St. Patrick’s Day. We celebrated in the afternoon by playing a game called “Luck”. You have to shake dice and you have a card much like Bingo, except it has the numbers 1-12 in the squares. You shake the dice, and try to get all the numbers that you need to totally cover your card. It sometimes takes quite a while to get “Luck”. 12 always seems to be the last number they are all trying to get. Olga Waters was our big winner in Household D -she won 2 rounds so got $2. Bev Thompson and Betty each one round in C, Willard and Cherrie each won one round in E.
We had special treats for St. Patty’s-reuben dip on crackers and mint brownies, and to drink, green beer or green punch. There must not be too many true Irishmen here, as the punch went over much better than the beer. It was a fun afternoon.
Exercises and Bingo were the entertainment for Thursday. We played Bingo in C&D Households.
Friday was our popcorn day, and in the afternoon we played a game of dominoes, which we have done for some time. Betty Steies was our big winner.
Have a good week. The weather sounds like it’s going to be beautiful this weekend.
