The Boyceville Science Olympiad teams continue to compete in virtual tournaments. This time it was in the Westlake High School Tournament, near Cleveland, OH. Because it was a virtual tournament, the Bulldogs were competing against students from nationally ranked teams from across the nation. The Boyceville MS & HS Science Olympiad teams participated last weekend at two virtual invitational tournaments, with the high school team competing at the Westlake (OH) Invitational and the middle school team competing at the Bayard Rustin (PA) Invitational.
Earning tournament championship gold medals at the Westlake Invite were Madison Andrews and Lacota Brown in Boomilever, Nathan Corr and Brady Helland in Gravity Vehicle, and Grace Edlin and Connor Sempf in Sounds of Music – Device Testing. Silver medals were earned by Corr and Edlin in Ping Pong Parachute and Helland and Corr in Wright Stuff. Bronze medals were earned by Helland and Sempf in Boomilever and Corr and Sempf in Digital Structures. Fourth place medals were earned by Andrews and Brown in Digital Structures and Greg Moore-Kamuti and Helland in WiFi Lab. Sixth place medals were earned by Moore-Kamuti and Luke Becker in Solar Power. A seventh place medal was earned by Moore-Kamuti and Helland in Machines – Device Testing, and an eighth place medal was earned by Hunter Chovan and Oscar Wyss in Solar Power.
Tournament championship gold medals were earned at the Bayard Rustin Invitational by Parker Coombs and Caden Wold in Boomilever, William Engel and Levi Becker in Elastic Launch Glider, Engel and Zoey Hellendrung in Mousetrap Vehicle, Wold and Peter Wheeldon in Mission Possible, and Wheeldon and Wold in Ping Pong Parachute. A silver medal was earned by Samantha Stoveren and Ashlyn Sorensen in Boomilever. A bronze medal was earned by Karen Schaff and Emma Hicks-Knowles in Boomilever. Fourth place medals were earned by Delaney Olson and Emily Fetzer in Horticulture, while fifth place medals were earned by Wold, Becca Wyss, and Zach Kersten in Code Busters and Taheton Downey in Mousetrap Vehicle. Seventh place medals were earned by Kersten and Becca Wyss in Game On and Sydney Garbe and Kylie Luedtke in both Code Busters and Dynamic Planet.
Boyceville HS and MS are back in competition on January 30th at the Slinger (WI) Virtual Invitational.
