Glenhaven News
June 27-July 3
Our week started out with a Bang, literally, as the lightning was rampant on Sunday night, and several workers had to seek alternates routes to get to work, this writer included. What a mess! Hope that’s the last of the flooding for the summer! The only thing good about it was that the residents had some interesting stories to hear.
Church services were listened to on Youtube by several residents on Tuesday morning. They are looking forward to a time when church can go back to “normal” but watching them on TV is better than nothing. In the afternoon, we played some trivia, all about weather, which I thought was appropriate for this week. Residents really seemed to enjoy this activity.
The activity department held our in-house beauty shop on Wednesday. We are not professionals but we do the best we can. In the afternoon we played Doorway Bingo. Ice cream treats were enjoyed after. July calendars were distributed to all.
Thursday was World UFO Day, and the residents enjoyed homemade moon pies for a treat in the afternoon. Manicures were also done, as well as checking on Wednesday’s hair. Some ladies like to leave their hair to dry overnight. It helps to keep the curls set longer. We also tried one on one stretching while seated in their chairs. Some of the residents were excited to get moving, others were not interested at the time.
Friday is always a favorite of our residents as it is Popcorn Day. We spent the morning making popcorn and doing some one on one visits with our residents. In the afternoon a few of us ventured outside to check on the flowers. It was a hot one out there!!! We continued with one on one activities and then we passed out our Red, White, and Blue dessert in celebration of July 4th. Fruit Pizza seemed to be a big hit with the residents.
We hope you all had a safe weekend.
