Glenhaven News June 20-26
Monday morning several of the residents watched church services from Sunday on Youtube. In the afternoon we had beer tasting for the men in celebration of Father’s Day. We had 4 varieties of beer, some went over well, some did not! I think the mozzarella sticks that were served with the beer was more of a hit than the beer itself. It was not a big party like we usually do, but it was fun nonetheless. One of our Havenwood residents actually worked for a brewery, running different tests on the beer. He had some interesting facts to share with us. For instance, did you know that the brown bottle helps keep beer from getting “skunky”? A couple of ladies joined in at the end. We even had a mango beer, which apparently was more of a lady thing. Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there!!!
We had a few more people wanting to watch church on Tuesday morning, so brought them up on Youtube. We also handed out copies of the programs for Holy Cross which is apparently starting outside services. It’s nice to hear that the churches are trying to open up.
We also did some room visits on Tuesday also, and brought some in-room activities for people to work on.
Beauty shop day was on Wednesday, and several ladies had their hair set or curled by the activity department. The afternoon was spent playing doorway Bingo in C & D Households.
Thursday morning was manicures with Cara.
Some of the residents went outside on Thursday afternoon, and did a spelling bee out there as well as other word games. We also went out and pulled some weeds out of the garden-unfortunately it seems there’s more weeds than plants! Actually some of it looks fine, but the beans didn’t come up well at all, and something has been chewing on the ones that did come up. The tomatoes and pumpkins are looking great, and the cucumbers look pretty good, even though they didn’t come up the best either. We should get enough to get a taste of fresh veggies anyway.
Popcorn day was Friday, and in the afternoon, since it was National Indian Pudding Day, we made Indian Pudding and took it around to all the households. Most of the residents seemed to enjoy it.
Have a Happy 4th of July and keep safe!
