Summer certainly showed up on Monday. Whew! It was a hot one! A couple of the residents sat outside early in the morning, but in the afternoon we stayed inside and did a crossword puzzle. The residents never cease to amaze me. They are some smart cookies! We considered a second puzzle, but they opted to have coffee and cookies instead.
Tuesday morning we had some little peepers come to visit. Cara brought her baby chicks in. The residents loved them-except for a couple of the ladies. She has several different breeds and colors. It was refreshing to see something new. They all have names, too. She also brought treats for the residents, which were enjoyed with coffee in the afternoon.
In-house beauty shop was held on Wednesday morning. Doorway Bingo was played in the afternoon, and we had fresh squeezed lemonade for a treat with our cookies after Bingo.
Manicures were done on Thursday morning. It was Hawaiian Day and everyone was encouraged to dress accordingly. We played a fishing game in the dining room areas of each household, and also served pina coladas for a treat. It was amazing that the women were more excited about fishing than the men were!
Friday was popcorn day, as usual, and in recognition of dairy month, we served banana splits in the afternoon. Some of the residents enjoyed the great outdoors, and we watered all the plants in preparation for the weekend.
Take care and see you next week.

Monday the Residents spent time outside and put up with a little wind to see the sunshine. Our flowers are doing very well and we hope the heat doesn’t keep us stuck inside all week. Some of the residents received something special in the mail. A colored picture from a local youth group. Every little bit helps to keep their spirits up. Thank you.
Tuesday is church day on YouTube. The residents get a kick out of see familiar faces on TV. It is National Strawberry Shortcake Day. The residents found a special treat on their lunch trays today. What a great summer time desert. Residents continue to help care for the raised flower beds we have in the courtyards. Those flowers were awfully thirsty this afternoon.
Wednesday we had our in house beauty shop. We do the best we can with our skill set. The residents enjoy the 1 on 1 time this provides. We enjoy it too. It gives everyone a change to connect a bit more.
Thursday we switched it up a bit for the residents. We started with BINGO in one of the households this morning at 10am. They seemed to enjoy the change of pace and it helps to keep them active right after breakfast. That BINGO game was followed by manicures and more hair. We finished the day by having another BINGO game in one of the other households with cookies and coffee to finish.
Friday is POPCORN DAY!!! It’s a favorite for most of our residents. We also went room to room and offered to do some stretches with the residents to keep their range of motion up. It is easy to get stiff when there is not a lot going on. Our Dairy treat this week was Vanilla Milkshakes. It is after all National Vanilla Milkshake Day. It is so great to see the smile on their faces when we do special treats like this. Flowers were watered this afternoon to keep them going through the next few days. This writer hopes everyone has a fantastic weekend.
