Not so fast: WIAA fall sports still in limbo, contrary to online report

Several media outlets along with social media across the state grabbed on to an erronous report late last week that stated the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) had approved the resumption of the upcoming high school and middle school fall sports season.

As it turns out, it was a bit premature.

Over this past weekend, the WIAA issued a statement trying to clarify the inaccurate reports.

“At this point, nothing has been canceled,” the WIAA stated. “That status can change as other virus developments might emerge, and we HOPE kids might return to their schools come fall, and if they do and if schools reopen, we will do our best to have a plan and guidance that our members might choose to use – along with input from state and local health authorities – to decide locally if they can resume their sport and activity programs.”
