ANA EVENSON
The Menomonie Optimist Club provides the Boyceville High School teaching staff with the opportunity to recognize the achievements and efforts of an outstanding senior student. The selected student is then recognized as the Menomonie Optimist Youth of the Month. Ana Evenson was selected to represent Boyceville High School as Youth of the Month for February. Ana is the daughter of Tamara and Erik Evenson of Boyceville.
The program statement from the Menomonie Optimist Club describes the qualities and attributes that made Ana a great choice.
“The purpose of the Optimist Club is to develop optimism as a philosophy of life: to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs, to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others advances the well-being of man, community, and the world.”
To recognize her accomplishments there was an Awards Banquet held in Menomonie on February 19th. Ana’s parents, Tamara and Erik, and Boyceville High School Teacher Mr. Tim Engel attended the Awards Banquet. Mr. Engel had the opportunity to introduce Ana and talk about her achievements, both in school and our community. At the banquet, Mr. Engel said “What stands out about Ana is her incredible work ethic and how sincere and driven she is in life”. Ana manages to balance leadership roles, academics and numerous volunteer opportunities. Ana has held leadership roles as Class President, Student Council member for three years and was elected this year as the Student Council President. When it comes to the Arts and Music Ana has been an integral part of our Drama productions playing numerous lead roles in our musicals and plays. She was a part of a Choir trio at the District Solo and Ensemble competition that ranked first in the competition. Ana has been an active member of the Spanish Club all four years of high school. She traveled to Puerto Rico last summer with the Spanish Club and explored the local culture with her classmates and teacher Ms. Katelyn Johnson. In addition to being a leader at school, involved in Music and Language, Ana’s academic pursuits include Science Olympiad competitions and Quiz Bowl tournaments. She has earned over 100 total medals through Science Olympiad and has been a State gold medalist. She finds the time to be a part of the Boyceville High School athletic program as well. She plays Varsity Basketball and is the manager for the boy’s Baseball team. The depth and range of her activities at school is impressive and so is her commitment to community. Ana is a volunteer for Boyceville High School’s annual Blood Drive for the Red Cross and has participated in our Feed My Starving Children events. Her next adventure starts in Fall, when Ana plans to attend North Dakota State University. Congratulations Ana on being selected as an outstanding senior!
