Glenhaven News
Feb. 22-28
Our weekend started with movies from the libraries on Saturday, and on Sunday the residents had Catholic communion and church with Grace Baptist.
Everyone got moving on Monday with exercises. In the afternoon the baking club was busy making begneits ( a New Orleans treat) for our Mardi Gras celebration on Tuesday. They tasted good, but were a little hard to chew for some of our folks.
Pastor Shannon and Irene, who were also assisted by Shelby Bauer, came for services on Tuesday morning. Pastor distributed ashes to those who wished to do so. In the afternoon we celebrated Fat Tuesday with the treats we made on Monday, as well as Chex mix and Cheetos, per the residents’ request. We also had root beer, some Mogen David and Pina Coladas. Dennis helped out by running the beer pong game, or as we called it that day, the candy pong game. Residents did a great job and everyone who played went home with candy.
The Little Acorns came upstairs on Thursday and played a very active and noisy game of balloon volleyball with the residents. Everyone had a blast! The kids were actually getting tired out at the end, if you can imagine that! The afternoon found several residents and Cara playing a game of Yahtze. The Mardi Gras decorations came down, and up went the St. Patrick’s Day ones. What a busy month!
Friday was popcorn day, and the afternoon was spent coloring Easter Wreaths to adorn residents’ doors. They turned out beautiful!!
