Jan. 18-24
Catholic communion was celebrated on Sunday morning.
A very nice group gathered for Monday morning exercises with Doris. It was a cold day outside, so it was a good day to get the muscles warmed up! We did manicures in the afternoon.
Tuesday was church with Pastor Dahm. It was good to have him back with us again. We’re glad you’re feeling better. The afternoon was spent doing a Valentine wreath craft. They turned out really cute. You can see some of them hanging outside of their household doors and some on their room doors, if you come to visit.
Wednesday was a busy day again with beauty shop and Bible study in the morning, and Bingo in the afternoon. “Thank You” to Barb and Diane for assisting the activity department!
The Little Acorns came and enjoyed a game of bowling with the residents on Thursday morning. Both the residents and kids got a chance to bowl. There were sure a lot of strikes that day. I think they could give some of us a lesson. In the afternoon, residents played the game Outburst. There was a lot of laughing going on, so apparently they enjoyed it. Coffee and cookies were enjoyed afterwards.
Friday was popcorn day, which always makes the place smell wonderful. In the afternoon, we celebrated Chinese New Year with a party of tea, egg rolls, Chinese salad and a Chinese New Year cake. We determined what animal each of the residents gathered was on the Chinese zodiac, and what their character traits were. We also determined, for those who could remember their spouses year of birth, if they were compatible or not, at least according to the Chinese Zodiac. We got some very funny responses! This is the year of the rat, so if you were born 2020, or in a year in that 12 year rotation, this should be a prosperous year for you!
Our next holiday is Ground Hog’s Day, and we will be guessing the residents shadows, if you care to come in and join the contest.
Visitors this week were: Doris Herdahl was visited by Doug & Linda Herdahl; Teresa Miller was visited by Bob Miller; Paula Standaert was visited by Mary, Patti and Diane; Christella Beyrer was visited by Jerry Miller and Pam; Bev Thompson was visited by Shelby Bauer; Orville Wittmer was visited by Gwen & Rob; and Lloyd Holten was visited by Pam, Vicky, Mark & Davy.
