Glenhaven News
September 21-27
A nice crowd gathered on Saturday at noon to celebrate Orville Wittmer’s Birthday. Guests enjoyed a barbecue and lots of great looking and tasting food. I saw some of Orville’s grandkids who I haven’t seen for some time. It was a good time!
Sunday was Catholic Communion and church services with Grace Baptist.
The Census Bureau paid us a visit on Monday, so some of the residents spoke with the census taker. We moved exercises to the afternoon, and followed that by baking club, where we made apple crisp for the Monthly Birthday Party with Jane and friends on Tuesday.
Pastor Shannon and Irene Schmidt from the Boyceville Methodist Church was here for services on Tuesday morning. Jane and Friends put on another good show on Tuesday. I have some sad new to announce, however. They will be retiring at the end of November. So if you want to hear them sing, you have just two more months to enjoy their music. They have been a very loyal group for many years, and will be missed greatly.
Wednesday was beauty shop and Bible study in the morning, and Bingo with St. John’s in the afternoon. Thanks to Judy, Sue, Shelly and Blake for helping out even though it wasn’t really their turn.
The Little Acorns came for their weekly visit on Thursday, and played shuffleboard with the residents. The big winner this week was Maxine Timm, with Delaney Mattison coming in second, and Doris Herdahl and Chuck DeSmith tying for third. Good job, guys!
Shelly did manicures in the afternoon.
Friday was popcorn day, and several residents and tenants and their families attended the Auxiliary’s Fall Luncheon and raffle drawing. We had a very nice crowd and lots of good food. In the afternoon some of the residents gathered for a game of shaker box, as it was a little chilly for sitting outside.
