News for the week of August 25th to the 31st:
Sunday at the Big Yellow House we made Butterflies to hang in our rooms! We have been watching the Monarch Butterflies for the past month grow from caterpillars to beautiful Butterflies and letting them go in our courtyards.
Monday was Green Leaf Café! The kitchen staff and helpers always do a great job of setting up in our Square and serve our Residents fun Diner food! Hart-Rice Ranch brought us two miniature horses and let us pet them and answered all our questions. We love when Deanna and her helpers bring in the miniature horses for us to love on. Loretta led us in Rosary; we appreciate the time that she comes to do this with us.
Tuesday morning is always off to a great start with Al, Gus and Toby leading the Cribbage group. The residents always look forward to this weekly gathering, although sometimes I think it is more about the visits and the coffee and cookies then the game! Leslie led Bean Bag Toss in the East Lounge before lunch. The residents had a great time and there were lots of laughs as we tried to toss the many different bean bags into the right squares! As always there was Prize Bingo in the Square, where everyone goes home a winner! This week we gave away a lot of bears! Jordan came before supper and we enjoyed songs and praise.
Pastor Schroetter led us in our Wednesday morning church service. We appreciate him taking the time to come and share with us. We enjoyed his inspiring message, and also singing along to our favorite hymns. Steve Szydel was our musical talent this afternoon in our square. We enjoyed having him and his musical talents to entertain us.
Thursday, residents gathered in the East Lounge for Stretch and Stories. We get all stretched out from head to toe and pick a book to read out of. For the next few weeks we will be reading some stories from a local Author and her childhood. Fellowship with Jordan in the Rotunda is always a great way to end our day.
On Friday morning we had to change things up from our normal Gospel Sing Along. We all enjoyed a round of Musical Bingo! It was great to hear some old songs and try to figure out the titles. The Square was full of music and laughs. Friday afternoon always bring us Dime Bingo in the Square. It is always a great way to end the week.
Next week will hold more adventures and fun for the Residents of Colfax Health and Rehabilitation so stay tuned!
