The Tribune is in receipt of a letter about the Fansler Twins celebrating their 90th birthday.
I’m, afraid I’ve really dragged my feet on this one. Perhaps you remember me? I contacted you last year to a run an announcement in the Glenwood City Tribune about the 90th birthdays of the Fansler Twins. It ran in the Wednesday, September 19th, 2018 issue. It was about my mother, Dalores Fansler Haroldson and my aunt, my mother’s identical twin sister, Lorraine Fansler Pierson.
“Well, we held the celebration and it went on for a whole weekend. We had a great attendance of family and friends. But as things do, we’ve had a lot on our plate with a flood at our house and dealing with insurance, etc. So the 90th birthday was pushed to the back burner. My mom and aunt ask me every once in a while about putting this into the paper and I’ve just got to get this done.
“I am sending you photos. Both ladies are now residing at ‘Ecumen’ Assisted Living in North Branch, Minnesota.
“As you may remember, the ‘Twins’ parents were Percy and Clara Fansler who were from the Glenwood City area. Clara was a Spaeth. The Twins were born on a farm outside of Glenwood City. As I’ve heard all my life, Lorraine weighed five pounds and Dalores three!
They were kept warm in cigar boxes on the warming shelf of the kitchen stove and attended to with the help of a teenage girl that slept on a cot in the kitchen during the night to help watch over them.
