The American Legion was here to honor our Veterans on Memorial Day. A very large group of residents took part, even though they had to sit inside because of the rain. We celebrated six May birthdays. Belated “Happy Birthday” to Doris Herdahl, Larry Wallin, Dorothy Mitch, Ruth Huber, Erleen Schmidt, and Idell Gast.
St. John’s hosted bingo this week. Thanks to Dennis and Sylvia for helping out.
Many residents went outside on Thursday morning, and played horse shoes and blew bubbles with the Little Acorns. It was a beautiful morning, and everyone enjoyed getting some fresh air after our long winter, and so far, cold spring. It looks like things are looking up, though, so hopefully we will spend some more time outside. If any of our readers are gardeners and planters, we are having a “Planting Day” here on June 7th. We are having a Thrivent action team, made up of residents, staff and volunteers, to plant flowers in the pots and raised beds around Glenhaven. We will start in the morning, probably around 10:00, and continue in the afternoon, unless the weather tells us otherwise. If you have garden tools for planting, please bring them with you also, as we have a limited number, which the residents will be using. We will also have Thrivent shirts for everyone to wear who is helping. Plants will be here, thanks to the generosity of Thrivent. Hope to see some of you here! If you have any questions, call Doris at 265-4555.
