April 27 – May 3
Grace Baptist church was here for services on Sunday morning.
The baking club was busy on Monday afternoon making dessert for the monthly birthday party on Tuesday. We made fruit pizza, which was a hit with everyone. Many of our residents didn’t know what a kiwi was, so we had a couple of extras just to taste after baking.
Jane and Friends celebrated the April birthdays with us on Tuesday afternoon. We had a nice crowd, and sang Happy Birthday to seven residents/tenants. Belated Happy Birthday to Becky Sempf, Maxine Timm, Charlie Roen, Judy Peterson, Roberta Moe, Willard Tronrud and Lois Kilde!
The beauty shop was busy on Wednesday and Thursday making our ladies look great.
Bingo was hosted this week by the activity department, with the help of volunteers Dar, Dale, Linda, and Barb. And what great helpers they were!
The Little Acorns were upstairs bowling with the residents on Thursday, as well as working on a craft project. The residents make crafts with Laurie in the afternoon, and made some adorable cork boards to put messages on. Good job, guys!
Friday was popcorn day, which everyone loves. The smell penetrates the entire facility, and makes everyone hungry. It also provides a good time to go around and visit. In the afternoon we played a game of 500.

Sunday the Menonite singers will perform in the evening.
Monday is “Spa Day”-residents will be treated to manicures by volunteers from the “Hair Comapany”, and also to hand massages by Rita. Staff are also invited to sign up for mini-massages. It is also “Pink Day”, so everyone is asked to wear pink.
Tuesday is “Camo Day”, which we thought was appropriate since the residents will try their hand at painting that day. We will also have church with Holy Cross in the morning. C,T and the Heuts will be here to entertain in the evening.
Wednesday the ladies will be at the beauty shop, and in the afternoon, we will have a performance in Grand Oaks by “Patchouli”. For those of you who remember the name, they were here last year, and were very good. They play some unique instruments. They will also be playing in the evening at Holy Cross. The color for the day is tie-dyed.
Thursday is “Farmer Day”, and we invite anyone who would like to bring in animals to visit to give us a call. Several staff have offered to bring in their pets also. And of course the dress for the day is “farmer”.
Friday will be “Casual Friday” dress, and we are honoring our volunteers that day with a Volunteer Luncheon at noon. Invitations have been sent out,so please RSVP so we know how many to expect. The luncheon will be held in Grand Oaks. A picnic for staff is also planned for that day.
We will end the week on Saturday with Music with Rudy Rudesill.
