GLENWOOD CITY — After losing by three points at home to Glenwood City in early December, the Boyceville girls’ flipped the result when they visited the Hilltoppers last Friday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs’ offense, spearheaded by junior Rachel Prestrud, found the open holes in the Hilltoppers’ zone defense time and time again to build a 27-14 lead at the break. Boyceville continued its assault in the second half en route to a 49-30 victory in the January 25 game that evened the rivals season series at one game apiece.
With the win, the Bulldogs sit comfortably in fourth-place in the Dunn-St. Croix at 5-5 and hold a one-game lead over Mondovi and two games on Glenwood City who sits in sixth with a 3-7 conference record and is 4-12 overall.
The Bulldogs, 8-8 overall, got off to a strong start in the first 18 minutes of play as guard Rachel Prestrud scored 16 of her season-high 23 points in the first half, breaking her previous season high scoring mark of 21 points set against Amery on January 15. Prestrud was strong from inside and outside the arc hitting all three treys in the first half and connected on six-of-eight free throws to lead all scorers.
Glenwood City, who also struggled offensively throughout the game, had no answers for the Bulldogs as they found themselves down early in the first half by 13 points and looking for ways to bounce back.
Hanna Strehlo stepped up for the Toppers with fourteen points overall off of six doubles and a pair of foul shots against Boyceville.
The Bulldogs, Kady Grambow managed to find herself outside the arc for three shots, two coming in the second 18 minutes of play. Grambow finished with three triples and was one-of-two from the charity stripe.
Glenwood City continued to fight all evening to find a way to put the ball through the net. Captain Delaney Quinn made her way to the line on three separate occasions and sank three of her six foul shots as well as a lone double for a total of five points.
Four other Topper ladies had at least two points for Glenwood City including, Kassidy Thompson with two points, Maddie Oelkhe with a pair of doubles, Kaitlin Lee made a single double, and Olivia Scalze hit the net for three.

Boyceville will play their next three games at home which began last night, Tuesday, January 29, with a non-conference game against Cumberland. The Lady Bulldogs then host Mondovi this Thursday to close out January and Durand next Tuesday, February 5.
Glenwood City was also scheduled to host a non-conference game last evening but had its game with Prescott postponed due to sub-zero wind chills. The Toppers will play D-SC leader Colfax on Thursday, January 31 and will host Elk Mound next Tuesday, February 5.
