Boyceville High School senior Alyx Bloom selected as Menomonie Optimist Club Youth of the Month

ALYX BLOOM
The Menomonie Optimist Club provides the Boyceville High School teaching staff with the opportunity to recognize the achievements and efforts of an outstanding senior student. The selected student is then recognized as the Menomonie Optimist Youth of the Month.
Alyx Bloom was selected to represent Boyceville High School as Youth of the Month for November. Alyx is the daughter of Julie and Todd Bloom, of Boyceville.
The program statement from the Menomonie Optimist Club describes the qualities and attributes that made Alyx a great choice.
“The purpose of the Optimist Club is to develop optimism as a philosophy of life: to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs, to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of man, his community, and the world.”
To recognize her accomplishments there was an Awards Banquet held in Menomonie on November 28th. Alyx, her parents and Boyceville High School Counselor, Karlene Berry attended the Awards Banquet. Ms. Berry had the opportunity to introduce Alyx and talk about her achievements, both in school and our community. Alyx has been a valuable leader, supportive team member and a positive role model for her peers. Every day she makes a significant positive contribution to our school culture and her efforts are noticed not only by staff but students as well. She has involved herself in academics, sports and volunteerism. Alyx is a student athlete at Boyceville High School. She has played a large leadership role in each sport she has been involved with. This year she will be Captain for three sports, Volleyball, Basketball and Captain for the upcoming Softball season. Alyx has also taken the time to give back to her community through volunteerism. Last summer she volunteered over 50 hours helping at the West CAP Food Pantry to support our community members in need. Her AP Biology and Physiology/Anatomy teacher, Mrs. Jenna Willi says that Alyx “Always has a unique perspective and I appreciate her dedication and compassion in my classroom”. Her academic focus, service to her community and commitment to leadership has made Alyx a wonderful choice for the Optimist Award. After graduation Aylx plans to pursue a degree as a Paralegal.
