Enjoy a fun filled weekend at Rustic Lore Days

GLENWOOD CITY — The Rustic Lore celebration brings family and friends back to Glenwood City every year., with this year’s event beginning on Friday, September 7, and running until Sunday, September 9.

The festivities start off with the city wide garage sales at 8 a.m. August 7 and run throughout the first two days of the event.

The Rustic Lore picnic will feature sloppy joes and will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and that will be in the Hiawatha National Bank parking lot.

Beginning at 6 p.m. on Main Street there will be kid events such as: Sawdust prize search, cow pie lotto, minnow races and much more!

Also starting at 6 p.m. will be the annual softball tournament, sponsored by the Glen Hills Lions Club, which will be played at the city ball field.

The FFA alumni tractor pull will be at the fairgrounds starting at 7 p.m. Admission to the event is 8 dollars and in case you’re hungry food and beverages will be available. Any questions or wanting to join in the fun contact Morgan Krueger at 715-505-2456.

If music is what gets you to moving The Weekenders will be playing in the Rustic Lore Days tent on Main Street from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Rustic Lore Days will get underway on August 8 at 8 a.m. with the city wide garage sales and the softball tournament resuming that morning.

A kickball tournament will take place at Hinman Park at 9 a.m. Anyone that has any questions about the tournament can get in touch with Elle Wood at 651-491-5527.

Craft vendors, a bake sale and silent auction will also begin at 9 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on Maple Street. For questions regarding any of the events at the church you can contact Judi Holmquist at 612-308-7366.

Down on Main Street the Rods and Rides car show will take place at 9 a.m., or if tractors are something you prefer then head down to the lower Main Street for the tractor show.

The Glenwood Apple Orchard and Event Center opens their doors starting at 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. for a meet and greet of the new owners Kelly and Dana Mattingly. There will be free root beer floats and bobbing for apples for the kids.

Rustic Lore days B.I.N.G.O. will be held on Main Street under the Rustic Lore tent along with the bean bag tournament sponsored by Leaker’s Place with both starting at 3 p.m.

The Queen’s pageant and coronation will take place at 7 p.m. at Glenwood City High school. Queen Alexis Rassbach and Princess Olivia Janson will crown their successors.

From 8:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. event goers can get their groove on at the Rustic Lore tent with music provided by Rhino.

Sunday morning starting at 11 a.m. there is a Bar-B-Que chicken dinner at the Glenwood City Community Center until 4 p.m., and a pie and ice cream social under the Rustic Lore tent until 6 p.m.

Later on in the day on August 9 at 1 p.m. on Main Street the Rustic Lore Grand Parade will be led by this year’s Grand Marshals Tom and Judy Wink.

Following the parade, the pedal tractor pull featuring the kids’ pull and ‘Battle of the Business’ as well as the announcement of the winners of the raffle prizes will be held on Main Street and at the fairgrounds the marching band winners will be announced.
