Red Cedar Speedway washed out

By Ed Reichert

MENOMONIE – A mid afternoon gully washer hit the Red Cedar Speedway and with it, any chance of racing Friday night, June 27 was also washed away. It marked the second straight rainout at the track and the fifth cancelation of the 2014 racing season as at the halfway point of the racing season, Red Cedar has been able to hold only five events.

The Kid’s Night activities planned for Friday will be rescheduled to a date that has yet to be determined. There is no racing at the track this coming Friday, July 4th, in deference to the holiday.

The next racing event at the speedway will be on Friday, July 11th. It will be Autism Awareness Night at the track and the presenting sponsors are Dean & Sue’s Bar and Thunder Hill Raceway. Racing will begin at 7 p.m. with WISSOTA sanctioned late models, modifieds, super stocks, Midwest modifieds and street stocks scheduled to compete along with the Red Cedar pure stocks and hornets.

Check the speedway website at www.redcedarspeedway.com for any updates on the racing season.
