GLENWOOD CITY — Rustic Lore will return to Glenwood City this Friday through Sunday, September 6 – 8, welcoming back friends and family with events kicking off at 8 a.m. on Friday with the city-wide garage sales.
The garage sales will run on Friday and Saturday until 4 p.m.
This year’s Rustic Lore dinner features a naval theme, and Hiawatha National Bank will be serving up sub sandwiches in the bank parking lot from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Beginning Friday at 6 p.m. on Main Street, kids 12 and under are welcome to participate in the Sawdust prize search along with other activities sponsored by Anderson Funeral Home and Logghe Trucking.
While adults that are participating in the annual softball tournament will make their way to the city ball field at 6 p.m. which is sponsored by the Glenwood City Lions Club.
If softball isn’t your thing, check out the street dance starting at 6:30 p.m. on Main Street featuring “The Weekenders” or take a quick trip to Boyceville to watch the Glenwood City Hilltoppers football team take on the Bulldogs at 7 p.m.
Saturday, September 7, will start with the city-wide garage sales as well as the softball tournament resuming at 8 a.m.
The kickball tournament will get under way at 9 a.m. at Hinman Park, if you have any questions make sure to contact Elle Wood.
The annual Rods and Rides car show runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Main street, as well as the tractor show on lower Main Street.
Glenhaven will serve up refreshments from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by bingo at 3 p.m. on Main Street.
The 9th annual FFA tractor pull will be held at the St. Croix County Fairgrounds starting at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, admission is $8.00 and is sponsored by the FFA Alumni.
The Queen’s Pageant and coronation will take place in the Glenwood City High School gym at 7 p.m.
Following the coronation “Rhino” will play on Main Street for dancing from 8:30 p.m. to midnight.
The final day of celebration, Sunday, September 8, will see the events getting started at 11 a.m. with a barbeque chicken dinner at the GC Community Center sponsored by the Glenwood City Lions Club.
Also at 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. is the pie and ice cream social served under the big tent on Main Street and is sponsored by the Glenhaven Auxiliary.
Rustic Lore grand marshals Ed and Darlene Waters will lead the Grand Parade at 1 p.m. on Main Street.
Following the parade will be the pedal tractor pull on Main Street featuring the Kids’ pull and “Battle of the Businesses.”
Also after the parade the band awards will be announced at the fairgrounds and raffle prizes will be announced on Main Street.
The Glenwood City History Center will be open all weekend long, also event goers are encouraged to make their way over to the button prize giveaway as they are numbered and have a possible chance at winning a prize.
And don’t forget the Golden Wheel hunt! The clues for this year’s hunt will begin on Wednesday with the winner taking home $100 in Chamber Dollars.
